The LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education is the Executive Agent for the Chief of Staff of the Air Force for Lessons Learned. Our mission is to provide seamless operational/strategic lessons to operational planning, execution, and organizational, training, and equipment (O,T & E) decisions.

AFLL Process

AFLL follows the Joint Staff process to collect, validate, seek resolution, and disseminate lessons. This process enables decision makers to make informed decisions from warrior Airmen on changing or resourcing: Doctrine, Organizational structures, Training, Material, Leadership and education, Personnel, Facilities, and Policy (DOTMLPF-P).

Observations are easy to do. The key to success is getting them to the right people. The Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS) is the DoD system of record.

AFLL Reports

The LeMay Center for Doctrine Development and Education is tasked by a General Officer’s steering group to interview subject matter experts and senior leaders on priority issues. Analysts use qualitative methods to generate these reports


Tactical Reports

Tactical Lessons Learned are collected at various locations across the Air force. Combat Air Force Lessons are incorporated into AFTTPs through the 561 Joint Tactics Sq. Mobility and Agile Combat Support Lessons are incorporated through the USAF Expeditionary Center.

Joint Lessons Learned Program

The Joint Staff / J7 Directorate is the office of primary responsibility for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for formulating policies for gathering, developing, and disseminating joint lessons learned for the armed forces.

Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL)

The Center for Army Lessons Learned is the Army's daily focal point for adaptive learning based on lessons and best practices from the total force and provides timely and relevant knowledge to the warfighter and our unified action partners utilizing integrated systems and interactive technology in order to simplify winning in a complex world.


 

Marine Corps Center for Lessons Learned (MCCLL)

The Marine Corps Center for Lessons Learned collects, analyzes, publishes, archives lessons learned materials, to include observations, lessons, trends, AARs. These efforts support training and planning for both exercises and operations, and the warfighting capability development process. 

 

   

NATO Lesson Learned Program

The Joint Analysis & Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC) is NATO's centre for performing Joint Analysis of operations, training, exercises and experiments, based on joint analysis requirements generated by both NATO strategic commands. The JALLC supports the exchange of Lessons Learned (LL) and facilitates the development of Lessons Learned Capabilities, reinforcing the continuous transformation and modernization of NATO’s forces and capabilities.
