CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Dave Butler provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met yesterday with Chairman of the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Won In Choul.

The two military leaders exchanged views on the current security situation and reaffirmed the strength of the U.S-ROK alliance. They discussed the United States’ unwavering commitment to the Republic of Korea and its continued commitment to providing extended deterrence.

Gen. Milley and Gen. Won reiterated their commitment to security and stability in the region. The chairmen welcomed further regional cooperation with partners and committed to maintaining the Combined Forces’ “Fight Tonight” readiness.

The longstanding alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea remains the lynchpin of security and stability on the Korean peninsula and the region.
