AETC announces awards for Chapel, PA, SFS

Air University Public Affairs, the 42nd Air Base Wing Chapel and the 42nd Security Force Squadron were well represented when Air Education and Training Command announced several annual award winners for 2008.

Tech. Sgt. Jennifer S. Laufer of the base chaplain's office received Outstanding Chaplain Assistant Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year in the command's Chaplain Corps annual awards program.

Phil J. Berube received the Outstanding Public Affairs/Communication Intermediate Level Civilian of the Year. He is the chief of the Strategic Communication Outreach Division for AU/PA.

Capt. Benjamin Sakrisson, AU/PA's assistant chief of Strategic Communication, received the Capt. Bradley R. Schuldt Outstanding Public Affairs/Communication Company Grade Officer of the Year award.

The Outstanding Public Affairs/Communication Senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year went to Master Sgt. James M. Law, superintendent of AU/PA.

Tech. Sgt. Elizabeth M. Carty of Air University TV was named the Outstanding Public Affairs/Communication Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. She also received the Airman 1st Class Daryl G. Winters Combat Communications Award, named for a combat camera photographer who was killed while filming aerial operations in Vietnam.

Also from AU/PA, Master Sgt. Scott Moorman took second place in the News Article category for a story covering the Prattville tornado in February 2008. Scott Knuteson received third place for a Feature Article category submission focusing on a World War II Airman receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross 64 years after earning it through his actions during war.

Staff Sgt. Jason Lake from AU/PA took first place for his Art and Graphics category submission. Sergeant Lake also received third place for Photojournalism and third place in the Picture Story category.

Master Sgt. James Law received third place in Combat Documentation for a photo taken while he was deployed.

From the 42nd SFS, Senior Airman Brock J. O'Hara was noted as the best of the year in his flight level category in the AETC Security Forces awards.
