MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala --
An enlisted Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) training instructor, joined by two cadets, will take over the Air Education and Training Command Instagram account May 12, 2023, to showcase AFROTC Detachment 025 at Arizona State University.
The instructor is Technical Sergeant Tyler Boudreau, who applied through Equal Plus, to become an instructor and has been in the position at Arizona State University’s Det. 25 since August 2022. In the Air Force, he is an aircraft maintainer.
The special duty identifier 8B300 for ROTC training instructors places NCOs as enlisted mentors at one of the Air Force’s 145 ROTC detachments. The training instructor position allows enlisted cadre to be a deliberate part of the detachment mentorship team.
“Bringing the enlisted perspective and mentorship to the cadets and future officers, benefits the whole detachment and allows me to shape them to be the leaders and followers the service needs, “ said Boudreau.
Cadets Kiana Inez and Nick Cabalo will also partake in the takeover to answer any questions AETC viewers might have for cadets going through the AFROTC program and what drives them on their path to commissioning into the military.
Cabalo is a freshman, majoring in air transportation management and he wants to become a combat systems officer.
Inez is a sophomore, majoring in marketing and communications and she hopes to become a public affairs officer. This summer, she will attend field training, a critical leadership development milestone toward earning a commission, at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
“I look forward to the takeover to showcase my detachment,” Inez said. “This unit, the cadets and cadre are amazing and make me excited for the future and commissioning into the Air Force,” Inez said.
