Readout of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dunford's Phone Call with Chief of the Turkish General Staff Gen. Yasar Guler

WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. spoke Nov. 1 by phone with Chief of the Turkish General Staff Gen. Yasar Guler. 

The two leaders discussed the situation in Syria and security and stability in Manbij, to include the first combined patrols, which were an important step toward de-escalating tensions along the border. They also discussed their continued counter-terrorism efforts to ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS. 

The U.S. and Turkey enjoy a strong and continuous military-to-military relationship as key members of the NATO alliance.
