The Air Force Judge Advocate General’s School here, in association with the Air Force Cyber College, and with the support of the Judge Advocate General’s School Foundation, invites legal, cyber and information technology professionals and university faculty and students studying in these areas to attend its first cyber law symposium, Dec. 15, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Entitled "Deciphering Public/Private Interactions in Cyberspace," the topics under discussion will focus on cooperation and conflict among military, civilian government, and private sector actors in domestic and international cyber activities.

Speakers will include representatives from the Department of Defense, other U.S. government agencies, private industry, and academia, such as Microsoft Corp., U.S. Department of Justice, and U.S. Cyber Command.

According to Major Israel King, the Cyber Law Symposium coordinator, the purpose of the symposium is to give those in the Maxwell-Gunter and surrounding communities whose work or study touches on cyber the opportunity to gain insight into the law and policy constraints and restraints that impact activities in that domain.

“Although the topics discussed are likely to be of principal interest to students and faculty at Air University, civilian legal and cyber professionals will also likely find the content of the symposium appealing,” he said.

King added that through the symposium, the JAG School hopes to build understanding of the law and policy implications of cyber by legal and non-legal attendees alike, inform research being done at Air University and other regional universities, and develop a body of knowledge that can be carried forward to future events, such as the annual Air Force Information Technology and Cyberpower Conference.

Seating for the symposium is limited, therefore pre-registration is required. Base access will need to be coordinated for those without regular means of entry onto military installations. Base access will be coordinated following registration, therefore the registration deadline for those needing base access is Friday Dec. 9 at 09:00 AM

There is no cost to attend this symposium.
