The junior enlisted of Maxwell hosted the third annual Junior Enlisted Airmen Leadership Symposium at Maxwell – Gunter Annex Oct. 10 – 11.

During this two-day professional and personal development event, there was more than eight workshops and the opportunity to venture out on a tour at the Hyundai Plant, located in Montgomery.

“This event is to help the airmen gain leadership skills to be leaders for tomorrow’s Air Force,” said Senior Airman Paulina Tucker, Force Management personnel and JEALS committee member. “We’ve reached out to many [Non-commissioned officers] and [Senior non -commissioned Officers] to come and talk about topics that we feel would be very beneficial for an Airmen in their career.”

Topics discussed during the symposium included education, critical thinking, public speaking, bullet writing, finances, and Uniformed Code of Military Justice legality. These discussion were meant to help junior enlisted Airmen as they progress through their careers to NCOs.

“Just from the perspective from someone attending the symposium, I think there’s a lot great opportunities that the Air Force offers us but a lot of us younger Airmen don’t know about these opportunities,” said Senior Airman Andrew Hendrix, 42nd Medical Group medical technician specialist and the Junior Enlisted Advisory Council vice president.

As this year’s JEALS came to an end, the Air Force is now one step closer to accomplishing one of Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright’s priorities of developing the next generation of leaders, the theme of the 2018 Senior Enlisted Leaders International Summit here.
