WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. DeDe S. Halfhill provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met with Japanese Chief of Staff, Joint Staff Gen. Koji Yamazaki today in Japan.

The two senior leaders discussed the current security environment in the Indo-Pacific region and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing close military cooperation.

The alliance between the United States and Japan remains the cornerstone of peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
