Maxwell-Gunter moves toward re-opening some operations next week

  • Published

The Maxwell-Gunter Force Support Squadron (FSS) will begin re-opening certain operations starting May 4, 2020.

The Force Support Squadron is taking a phased approach in re-opening operations following DoD, state, regional and local guidance.

“We are taking special precautions to protect the Maxwell-Gunter community as we gradually reopen facilities and resume services in accordance with DoD, state of Alabama, and medical guidance,” said Maj. Annabelle Hill, 42nd Force Support Squadron Commander. “As always, FSS stands ready to support, and we look forward to welcoming our customers back safely at some of our activities next week.”

The decision to start re-opening certain services was made in alignment with the instructions from the Department of Defense, the Air Force, the state mandates and the recommendations from the 42nd ABW Public Health Emergency Officer, Maj. Ricardo Sequeira.

“I feel comfortable with the decision to begin opening services based on the information we have been tracking and the latest guidance that has been released,” said Sequeira. “While the base is moving toward opening certain operations, we are still in HPCON-C and still in a Public Health Emergency so we must continue to follow all CDC guidelines and recommendations as much as possible.”
