Readout of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley’s Virtual Meeting with 30 Chiefs of Defense

WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. DeDe S. Halfhill provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley participated virtually in NATO's 183rd Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence Session today. The meeting included the 30 Chiefs of Defense, including the most recent NATO Ally, the Republic of North Macedonia.

The military leaders discussed NATO's ongoing operations, training missions in Afghanistan and Iraq, and ways to build stability and strengthen partnerships across the region. The Allies also focused on how to maintain a strong NATO deterrence and defense posture while fighting COVID-19.

The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to readiness and to continued operations to demonstrate the world's strongest alliance remains ready and vigilant.
