University Inn up for 'best lodging' award

  • Published
An Air Force innkeeper evaluation team led by Col. Patrick Dunn, director of Services Operations, Air Force Services Agency, will be at Maxwell Wednesday through June 25 inspecting the University Inn to determine if it is the best lodging operation in the Air Force.

The University Inn was selected as the AETC Innkeeper award winner, large base category for 2010.

The checklist the accreditation team uses to evaluate lodging operations has more than 450 line items - from customer check-in and check-out, maintenance, logistics housekeeping, management, training, quality assurance, accounting and more.

University Inn provides five-diamond service to more than 55,000 guests annually. During the Air Force Services Agency lodging accreditation evaluation for 2009, the University Inn achieved an overall accreditation score of 96.8 percent, one of the highest that year.

University Inn has more than 2,270 rooms, making it the second largest Air Force lodging operation in the world.

"As in every successful operation, people make the difference," said Chris Kitchens, 42nd Force Support Squadron Lodging general manager. "It is because of the outstanding staff working at the University Inn that we are selected for this prestigious award. All of the 300-plus personnel working at the University Inn are phenomenal."
