Maxwell's Outdoor Recreation is hosting a family hiking trip on the Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Nov. 14.

The hiking trip is seven miles through the woods and around Lake Martin. Shorter routes are available. Pack your lunch for the day and discover one of Alabama's most beautiful hiking trails.

The trip costs $5 per person and includes transportation and bottles of water. Hikers will depart from equipment checkout at 8 a.m. and return around 3 p.m. Seats are limited. To make reservations, call 953-9593 by Nov. 6.

Also Outdoor Recreation is planning a trip to the Wadsworth Tree Farm in Wetumpka, on Dec. 12. Participants can enjoy a hay ride, and choose and cut a fresh family Christmas tree.

Outdoor Recreation will have a flatbed available to carry the tree back to Maxwell.

The cost for round trip transportation is $3. This cost does not include the tree. The bus will leave equipment checkout at 9 a.m.
