A free Salute to the Troops Concert is scheduled for 7 p.m., Aug. 14 in Maxwell's Air Park. Bring a picnic dinner, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a relaxing evening of jazz and Rhythm and Blues music performed by Tracy Hamlin.

Ms. Hamlin, a popular artist from the Atlanta area, was the previous lead vocalist for "Pieces of a Dream" jazz band until she branched out solo in 2005, releasing her first solo album "Seasons" (DMH Records, LLC).

She has most recently performed at jazz festivals at The Preserve in Hoover, Ala. and St. Lucia in the West Indies. During her performances she has shared the stage with Jonathan Butler, Marcus Miller, Rick Braun, Eric Essix and Richard Elliot. Ms. Hamlin has also joined other jazz greats such as Carlos Santana, Al Jarreau and Boney James in concert. Maxwell Air Force Base will be her first military performance.

Refreshments will be sold. Please note that this is a non-smoking event, and tents and glass containers are not permitted in the park.
