Artemis Assist
A NASA Space Launch System rocket launches the Artemis II mission from the Space Launch Complex at Kennedy Space Center, Fla., April 1, 2026, with a KSC support truck in the foreground. Armed Forces Medical Examiner System medicolegal death investigators are present during crewed space launches along with other contingency planners and personnel from different agencies, including NASA medical officers, KSC medical support teams and other regional medical units which make up an on-site triage team. They provide logistics and mass fatality management in the case of a contingency response.
