Jill Marti hugs the tightly folded American flag during a memorial ceremony honoring her uncle, Army Capt. Willibald Bianchi, at New Ulm City Cemetery in Minn., May 2, 2026. Bianchi was killed Jan. 9, 1945, and his mother received his Medal of Honor June 7, 1945, on his behalf during a ceremony at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. His remains were unidentified until August 2025.
