Hero's Name
Carrie LeGarde, an anthropologist assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency team, served as the project lead for the team that identified Army Capt. Willibald Bianchi. Bianchi was killed Jan. 9, 1945, when the Japanese POW ship he was detained on was bombed. His name is listed on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. Now that Bianchi has been identified, a bronze rosette is next to his name.
