A T-7A Red Hawk takes off from Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, May 15, 2026. The 99th Flying Training Squadron is the first Air Education and Training Command unit to fly the T-7A, which will replace the T-38C Talon as the service's advanced jet trainer. These initial flights, known as Type 1 sorties, are crucial for building the first cadre of instructor pilots who will train the next generation of aviators. (U.S. Air Force photo by Benjamin Faske)
