Protecting the Homeland
Joint Task Force Southern Border personnel use the Army Multipurpose High Energy Laser system to engage and defeat three hostile unmanned aerial systems along the U.S. southern border, Aug. 25, 2026. Approximately 8,000 service members are currently deployed as part of the task force to protect U.S. territorial integrity by boosting awareness, accelerating response and supporting federal law enforcement partners.
