Squadron Officer School (SOS) - Instructor (81T0)

Locations:  Maxwell AFB, AL 36112-6426 (Multiple Positions) 

Tour Length:  3 years

Description:  Squadron Officer School (SOS), established in 1950, is a Professional Military Education (PME) course for U.S. Air Force Captains, Department of the Air Force Civilians (DAFC), and International Officers.  The purpose of the program is to help develop solution-minded, bold and courageous Airmen ready to overcome today's and tomorrow's challenges.  Duties include teaching, mentoring, and evaluating officers and civilians in areas of leadership, team building, logical and ethical reasoning in decision making, and multi-domain joint warfare.    Instructors will facilitate student engagement in classroom and hands-on application events that will challenge their individual leadership awareness, foster innovative thinking, provide effective methods for conflict resolution, and collaboratively solve problems.  Additionally, instructors will fulfill responsibilities in curriculum development and school operations. 

Eligibility:  Captain [USAF/USSF] or Major [USAF/USSF] with SOS in-residence complete and at least 6 years TAFCS.  Member must exemplify outstanding military bearing and appearance and have an outstanding military record.  Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.  Fitness composite score of 85 or above required.  Absence of a permanent or long-term medical profile required in order to complete teambuilding events and a 10K run six times a year.  Deployed experience and master’s degree desired.
