Readout of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Milley's Meeting with Chief of the Australian Defence Force Gen. Angus Campbell

WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley met with Chief of the Australian Defence Force Gen. Angus Campbell today in the Pentagon.

The two military leaders discussed a range of issues, including the global threat of terrorism and regional security. They also discussed ways to increase collaboration in counter-terrorism efforts and regional capacity building among other areas of mutual interest. The two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen multilateral cooperation and improve capabilities and interoperability.

The U.S.-Australia alliance plays a critical role in maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region and in leading the global fight against violent extremism.
