The National Defense Transportation Association presented Enlisted Heritage Research Institute with a check for $500 Oct. 28 as a donation toward institute projects.

The money was raised at the recent annual NDTA golf outing at Maxwell's Cyprus Tree Golf Course, said NDTA president Walter Dzialo.

"This is the 27th year we have had the golf outing, and over those years, we have given money to a variety of deserving organizations. This year we want to keep the money in house (at Maxwell-Gunter)," he said. "I've watched the Enlisted Heritage Hall museum evolve over the years, and it's just fantastic and worthy of the money."

EHRI Director Chief Master Sgt. Rick Fanning, , said the $500 is very important because it will help to finish one of EHH's 'projects in progress.'

"That money goes to help complete the sidewalk that leads to our two outdoor exhibits. The walkway will be lined with monuments to enlisted members who received the Air Force Cross medal," he said. "I'm honored the NDTA thought of us as the recipient of this donation. The money will help us tell our story."

While completely coincidental, the chief said he found it appropriate that the National Defense Transportation Association money would go toward an exhibit that honored transportation. One of the two outdoor exhibits pays tribute to combat convoy trucks and the Airmen who are involved in manning them.
