What revolutionary capabilities or processes could emerge or mature over the next five to 10 years if the Army leverages current, cutting-edge, and commercially available artificial intelligence and machine-learning (AI/ML) technologies? What problem sets and cases would these capabilities and processes address to give the Army a decisive advantage over its adversaries? What business practices and staff processes could these capabilities augment or enhance to reduce headquarters staffing and free up manpower for operational forces? This question demands outside-the-box thinking and a survey of novel ideas that account for the changing characteristics of the modern battlefield—not simply an assessment of ongoing efforts or a push for natural evolutions of existing systems.
