The Community College of the Air Force has made significant progress toward resuming normal operations, Air University officials said Friday, April 28.

AU began the migration of CCAF data to the AU Student Information System on Sept. 28, 2022. To date, more than 260,000 active student records have transferred to the new system.

CCAF is currently working to process graduation request submitted between Aug. 28 and Oct. 3, 2022. All requests submitted before Aug. 28 have been processed. CCAF is also working aggressively to eliminate the backlog of outstanding transcript requests.

“Unfortunately, we are still having technical difficulty with consistently communicating to the Air Force Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS), and we won’t consider this done until an Airman’s record can be fully updated,” said Col. Anthony Babcock, the Commander of the Barnes Center for Enlisted Education commander. “From the student’s perspective, nothing is complete until it’s in their personnel file.”

Students who applied for graduation between Aug. 28 and Oct. 3 can view their status at the Air Force Virtual Education Center at https://afvec.us.af.mil/. Additional instructions on how to track this information can be found on the CCAF website. CCAF will coordinate with base education offices for new requests once the outstanding requests are completed.

Furthermore, Air University will complete an automated degree audit for all students later this summer, which will make individual student records available to Airmen and their base education advisors.

“The other remaining issue we are solving is the AU transcript—we owe the force an accurate and complete record of their academic accomplishments with AU,” said Lt. Gen. Andrea Tullos, the AU Commander. “Having all student data in one place makes this possible for the first time, but we have to get it right—so we are being stringent about the accuracy of our new transcript.”

At this time, the AU SIS can provide multiple services, including:

  • Students can enroll and participate in courses.
  • Counselors have several tools to assist students with their educational needs.
  • CCAF officials can enter new transcripts.
  • CCAF can deliver certificates and transcripts that were completed before Sept. 28, 2022.

The AU SIS replaces a dozen decades old semi-autonomous systems that became increasingly difficult to update. It is designed to make it easier for students to check their course progress in real time and less cumbersome for educators to track students’ academic lifecycles.

Upon completion, CCAF students will be able to produce transcripts and have access to enhanced counselor-to-student experiences within the AU SIS.
