Chaplain, Maj, Thomas H. West serves as a Staff Chaplain at the Air Force Chaplain Corps College, Ira C. Eaker Center for Leadership Development, located at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery Alabama. In this capacity, Chaplain West is responsible for assisting the Deputy Commandant in the design, development, and execution of curriculum and courses in the college. He is responsible for leading the Basic Chaplain Course where he equips new Air Force Chaplains with the foundational skills necessary to be worldwide qualified to the three-level AFSC standard. Additionally, he instructs, trains, and educates at the college, serving 2,100 total force chaplains and religious affairs airmen across the Chaplain Corps. Chaplain West also serves as an Air University Senator representing The Eaker Center.


Chaplain West commissioned in May of 2014. He is an Ordained Pastor and is endorsed by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Before entering active duty, he served as a full-time pastor for over seventeen years in multiple congregations. Chaplain West has deployed twice with the Combined Joint Special Operations Air Component in Afghanistan in support of OPERATION FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.
