The Canvas Assistance and Support Team (CAST) are a small group of Canvas experts gathered to help teach AU faculty and staff how use and customize the Canvas LMS for online course delivery. The CAST members offer hands-on learning workshops and lead the monthly Canvas User Group Meeting. To learn more about the workshops and the monthly meetings, please visit the Welcome to Canvas link via the Help Tab in your Global Canvas Navigation Menu. The CAST members are also available to host or conduct in-house Canvas training, which is tailored to your group or school’s individual Canvas needs. To schedule a customized workshop, see the information below. While the CAST members cannot assist with Canvas technical support issues, the team can answer most of your Canvas course build questions and/or help you find the resources you need. Please be sure to visit the Canvas Community Forum via the Welcome to Canvas link (from your Canvas Help tab). The Community Forum is your place to learn about Canvas, chat with fellow faculty, and find many helpful tool and resources.
The Canvas Community Forum Meeting occurs monthly on the second Monday of the month. The meeting takes place in the Teaching and Learning Center’s auditorium. The CCFM show cases what’s new in Canvas and provides information on updates to Canvas capabilities and what may be going away or coming in the future. Cast members lead the meeting and are on hand to answer Canvas learning specific questions. The CCFM is designed to support the new Canvas Community Forum Site and the education of AU faculty and staff on how to use the AU instance of Canvas. The meeting is the perfect place to ask questions, share ideas, and learn from each other. Come learn what’s new in the world of Canvas and/or sign up for custom training workshops. CCFM sessions are recorded and posted to the Community Forum site

Periodically, the CAST members will conduct live hands-on learning workshops. Workshops are based on faculty and staff demands and occur on an as needed basis. If you are interested in bringing several members of your staff to the TLC to learn about the many elements in Canvas, contact CAST via the CAST org box to set up a workshop: AUCanvasAssist@us.af.mil
Workshops require a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 20. The workshops take place in the TLC’s facilities and include up to 4 hours of training on the aspects of Canvas you need most. Note: Workshops require a 10-day heads up in order to schedule and prepare the workshop materials. Workshop are not recorded.

The CAST members are also available to customize and deliver a 2-hour in-house Canvas training and consultation. This training is meant for small groups of 2 to 6 and provides step-by-step instruction on the specific aspects of Canvas that you need right away. Whether you need to learn how to build assignments, quizzes, and surveys or have CAST take a look at what you have and offer some advice, we can help. CAST members can usually meet your request within 72 hours (business hours). However, requests are first-come-first-serve and subject to availability.
