Air Reserve Component Seminar (ARCS)

Advance Your Professional Military Education with ARCS

The Air Reserve Component Seminar (ARCS) provides Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve majors and lieutenant colonels enrolled in Air Command and Staff College or Air War College distance learning programs with a unique opportunity to step away from day-to-day responsibilities and focus fully on PME.

ARCS offers:

Immersive Learning – Dedicated in-residence time to engage deeply with ACSC or AWC coursework in a faculty-mentored, peer-driven environment.

Meaningful Progress – Accelerated advancement in distance learning requirements through focused in-residence study.

Professional Connections – The chance to collaborate with fellow Guard and Reserve officers, strengthening networks and leadership perspectives.

Agile ACSC Capstone for the Air Reserve Component

ACSC ARCS now serves as the in-residence capstone for Agile ACSC, a blended learning IDE and JPME I program for non-resident students. Agile ACSC combines a four-month, instructor-facilitated online phase with a two-week, in-person capstone at Maxwell AFB.

Through this structure, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve majors experience an enriched learning environment, peer networking, and the chance to apply leadership, airpower, national security, and joint planning concepts in a practical, mission-relevant setting. Completion of Agile ACSC awards IDE and JPME I credit, and students will be ACSC DL complete.

Strategic-Level PME for the Air Reserve Component

AWC ARCS is a two-week in-residence experience at Maxwell AFB designed for Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonels enrolled in Air War College Distance Learning (DL). Students work through a portion of the AWC curriculum via small-group seminar discussions, guest lectures, workshops, and exercises facilitated by Air University’s academic and military faculty.

Students earn credit for the Global Security Course (NSP-850A) and one Focused Studies Facilitated course, making them about 50% complete with AWC DL after AWC ARCS.
