International Officer School – Flight Commander, SOS Preparatory Course (81T0)

Tour Length: 3 years

Description: Directs, plans and executes a seven-week SOS Preparatory Course for international military students from 83 partner nations annually. Leads and mentors 65 international military students annually. Supports the design and coordination of a 747-hour academic curriculum focused on preparing international students for in-resident PME. Assists in the planning and execution of Air University’s Field Studies Program to ensure international students develop an understanding of the responsibilities of governments, militaries and citizens to protect, preserve and respect individual human rights.

Eligibility: Applicant must be a senior Captain [USAF only] and must possess excellent communications and organizational skills. Applicants will represent the U.S. to hundreds of international officers and must exemplify USAF military bearing and appearance standards and have an outstanding military record. Security Cooperation and international/cross cultural experience is desired.
