Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Lt Cols have the opportunity to enhance their SDE/AWC distance learning (DL) professional military education (PME) with the Air Reserve Component Seminar (ARCS) program. The program has undergone a complete modification in response to the August 2016 release of AWC DL edition 18 curriculum.
SDE/AWC ARCS information:
AWC ARCS is a blended-learning program which will allow Lt Cols a dedicated period of TDY to focus on portions of the AWC distance learning program. The AWC ARCS program will provide an enriched learning environment that uses a combination of online collaborative learning, guest lectures and exercises facilitated by AU resident and distance learning faculty.
Two prerequisites must be completed prior to ARCS attendance: eOrientation and an Elective. During the 2-week seminar, students will complete the “International Security Studies” (ISS) and “Airpower & National Strategy” (A&NS) blocks of the course. Only distance learning SDE credit will be reflected in SDE/AWC ARCS student personnel records.
For ANG and full-time Reservists, the ARCS TDYs are completely unit funded. For IMAs, TRs and ART Reservists, ARCS attendance is centrally funded by AFRC.
How To Apply
For ANG officers, those desiring to enroll must provide a signed memorandum from their Wing/CC or equivalent that says that the Wing will fund the required TDYs for course completion. This memorandum as well as a memorandum requesting enrollment in the SDE/AWC ARCS program must be emailed to Lt Col Lawrence Arnold at email@example.com.
For AF Reserve officers, specific application instructions for the SDE/AWC ARCS program will be listed in the Fall Reserve School Selection Board (RSSB) announcement.
