  • Air Force ROTC takes over Camp Shelby for field training

    Air Force ROTC will train and evaluate nearly 3,500 ROTC cadets, or 1.5 times the traditional number, during an “extraordinary” version of field training this summer at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center, Mississippi, from May through July.

    Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force JoAnne Bass visited the Air Force Enlisted Heritage Research Institute at the Maxwell-Gunter Annex, Alabama, recently to view the new Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps enlisted legacy display. The display honors the dedication that AFJROTC enlisted aerospace science instructors have to the program and the Air Force by continuing to serve the nation past their 20 years on active duty. It also highlights the impact that the program can have on a young high school student who decides to enlist after being in AFJROTC.
  • AFIT Graduate School offers non-thesis MS degree program to USAFA grads awaiting pilot training

    The Graduate School of Engineering and Management will be offering the option of an in-residence master’s program that does not require completion of a thesis to acquire a degree. This 12-month program will provide officers a quicker path to earning a STEM-related master’s degree.

  • Air Force ROTC reduces length of enlisted assignments at detachments

    Headquarters Air Force ROTC has reduced the number of years enlisted cadre serve at detachments from four to three years. Effective March 1, 2021, the reduction aligns the tour length with those of other special duty assignments, such as military training instructors and leaders, stateside enlisted professional military education instructors and technical training instructors.
