ACSC DEPARTMENT OF LEADERSHIP

The 21st and 38th Student Squadrons are responsible for the health, morale, and welfare of all students attending ACSC.  The student squadrons serve as the Commandant’s conduit on student operational issues and provide feedback to the Deans regarding academics, research, technology, and mission support.  The student squadrons are each staffed with a Commander and two Directors of Operations.  The student squadron staff are available to discuss all matters and concerns for which students need guidance and/or counseling.

    Lt Col Jennie Hall

    Commander, 21st Student Squadron

    Lt Col Jennie Hall is Commander, 21st Student Squadron, Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.  In this position, Lt Col Hall leads a multiservice squadron of 250 Air Force, Sister-Service, International Field Grade Officers and civilian students selected to attend Air Command and Staff College.  She also conducts personal, professional, and academic mentoring for officers destined for future senior leadership positions world-wide.

    Director of Operations (Division 1)

    Maj Pete Schmick is the Director of Operations (Division 1), 21st Student Squadron at Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. The mission of Air Command and Staff College is to educate and develop air-minded joint leaders. In his role as Director of Operations, Maj Schmick leads a multiservice squadron of 250 Air Force, sister-service, and International Field Grade Officers and civilian students selected to attend the Air Command and Staff College in-residence program. He also conducts personal, professional, and academic mentoring for officers destined for future senior leadership positions world-wide.  Maj Schmick’s career has covered a variety of acquisition and test assignments with the Air Force Research Lab, Air Force Flight Test Center, National Air and Space Intelligence Center, Defense Contract Management Agency, Space and Missile System Center, and Air Force Life Cycle Management Agency.

    Lt Col Erin Dunagan

    Director of Operations (Division 2)

    Lt Col Erin Dunagan is the Director of Operations (Division 2), 21st Student Squadron at Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. In her role as Director of Operations, Lt Col Dunagan leads a multiservice squadron of 250 Air Force, sister-service, and International Field Grade Officers and civilian students selected to attend the Air Command and Staff College in-residence program.  Lt Col Dunagan’s career has covered assignments in the nuclear weapons and space programs.  She has served with the 91st Missile Wing (Minot AFB, ND), 614th Air Operations Center (Vandenberg AFB, CA), the Pentagon (VA), the 18th Space Control Squadron, Detachment One (Dahlgren, VA) and Air Command and Staff College (Maxwell AFB, AL).

    Maj Josh Payne is the Director of Operations (International Officers), Air Command and Staff College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama. The mission of Air Command and Staff College is to educate and develop air-minded joint leaders. In his role as Director of Operations, Maj Payne leads a group of 78 International Officers from 68 countries competitively selected to attend the Air Command and Staff College in-residence program. He also conducts personal, professional, and academic mentoring for officers destined for future senior leadership positions world-wide.
