Adjunct Instructor

Mr. Chip Perkins is an Adjunct Instructor for the Introduction to Cross-Cultural Communication class at the AFCLC. He earned his Master’s Degree in Educational Anthropology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1998 and attained Ph.D. candidacy in the same program in 2004. His dissertation research investigated enculturation in the early childhood classroom in the United States Midwest. Chip has over ten years of experience teaching in a diversity of learning communities: from prekindergarten and kindergarten public-school classrooms, to neurodivergent adolescents in a private school, to undergraduate students in a teacher education program, to adults with substance abuse disorders. Chip has recently pivoted his work toward investigating how anthropological approaches to education, learning, and mind can amplify User Experience (UX) in regards to online classroom instruction and design.
