Adjunct Instructor Introduction to Cross-Cultural Communication

Mrs. Evelyn Barrientos-Perkins is an Adjunct Instructor for the AFCLC's Introduction to Cross-Cultural Communication course. She has a Bachelors in Spanish Education from Southern Illinois University and earned her Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language (ESL) from Dominican University in 2018.  Mrs. Barrientos-Perkins is a native Spanish speaker, having been born and raised in the Dominican Republic until adulthood.  She immigrated to the United States in 1996 and joined the New Jersey Army National Guard in 1999. 

Mrs. Barrientos-Perkins has taught Spanish as a world language in both face-to-face and online formats for many years, at the elementary, secondary, and junior college levels for over 10 years.  She is the ESL Services Coordinator at Unity Point Elementary School District # 140, where she recently got tenured.  Here, she works with a diversity of families from around the world putting her cross-cultural communication skills into practice.
