INDOPACOM Subject Matter Expert (SME) Research Analyst – Consultant

Dr. Yan Ke joined the AFCLC in February 2024 as a part-time analyst-consultant on the INDOPACOM AOR. Currently, he serves at a Stabilization Advisor with the U. S. Department of State with policy and programmatic focus on issues related to Great Power competition as well as East/Northeast Asian geopolitical and security challenges. Prior to that, he served as a Senior INDOPACOM SME for more than 18 years with the U. S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC). Dr. Ke holds a Ph.D. in History from Georgetown University. His professional life has spanned from living and traveling in Asia, conducting research at the Woodrow Wilson Center, teaching courses in Georgetown and Bastyr Universities on Asian histories, Sino-U.S. foreign relations, and Chinese language and culture, providing analytical SME support to USASOC operations and planning, and to researching and writing on Chinese history and politics, Chinese strategic thinking, and East Asian geo-cultural and security traditions.
